Ahoy! I’m resurfacing with a few words/announcements — and apologies for those of you who don’t live on the East Coast, because many are Events I hope to persuade you to attend.
First up: I’m thrilled to announce that DENNY BARRACUDA will be making its New York premiere at the New York Shorts International Film Festival! Come see the film I wrote (based on my play) on Oct. 22 at Cinema Village. I’ll be joined by director Shannon Goldman, star Madeleine Morrell, producer/artist Dean Haspiel and others. Can’t hardly wait. Ticket info coming soon.
On Oct. 15 & 16 I’ll be participating in Gowanus Open Studios, where I’ll be selling my diary comics. My beautiful studio mates Dean Haspiel and Jason Goungor will be peddling their books/art as well. Here’s where to find us.
After a two-year COVID delay, Dean’s play THE WAR OF WOO finally opens next week! Here’s how he describes it: A Demon recruits a quartet of New Yorkers to help kidnap Satan in hopes of brokering a treaty with God to merge Heaven and Hell. Can a rebellious actor, a brazen assistant director and two best friends on the brink of breaking up ally long enough to alter the afterlife?
I’m so proud of Dean and psyched to see WOO in the flesh. Get tickets here.
Who’s going to Baltimore Comic-Con Oct. 28-30? Me! Come by my table to say hi. I still haven’t decided whether to wear a wig.
Finally, I want to give a loving shout-out to Lindsay Rice, a longtime Pop Candy reader, talented photographer and all-around awesome human. Recently Lindsay and her two children lost all of their belongings in a house fire. Her brother has set up a GoFundMe to help them get back on their feet. Please contribute if you can.
Be well this week, and I’ll see you soon. You can always find me at whitmath@gmail.com or by pushing that mysterious button in the elevator.
With a sprinkling of Ac’cent Flavor Enhancer,

P.S. I finally watched THE SPARKS BROTHERS and absolutely loved it. How have I managed to make it this far without seeing the “Cool Places” video??
