I wrote a comic -- here's where to find it
Preview "Take Me," my first comics collaboration with Dean Haspiel.
Hi, everyone! I just wanted to send a quick note to say this week marked the first time a comic I wrote went on sale in comics shops nationwide.
Here are the first two panels of “Take Me,” which features gorgeous art by Dean Haspiel:
What happens next? You’ll have to get the book to find out! “Take Me” is an eight-page story that serves as a “B-side” to THE ENDS #2 by David & Maria Lapham. The downside is it’s only available in select comics shops, so here’s hoping there’s one near you (or you can find a copy on the internet).
This is my favorite two-page spread in the comic:
I hope you enjoy — and I hope this isn’t the last time I can go to a comics shop, pull a book off the shelf and proudly say, “I wrote this!” (Did anyone hear me/care? No, but that DOESN’T MATTER! We stick out our chests and boldly move forward!)
In other news …
I’ll share more details soon, but next month a play I wrote will debut in New York City. It’s about journalism, motherhood and mattresses. The lead character’s name is very similar to mine.
And finally …
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who came to our screening of short films last week! We had a packed house watching DENNY BARRACUDA, and I felt like the luckiest gal on the Lower East Side.
Here I am later that night, singing “Islands in the Stream” with my friend Khae and desperately trying to invoke the spirit of Dolly Parton:
That’s all for now — holler anytime at whitmath@gmail.com, and do something just for yourself this weekend!
sailing away to another world,

I love Dean’s art and look forward to seeing the whole story
