Greetings! I’m back in the Land of Healthy People and doing my best to be interesting again.
Here’s a little video update:
willis wonderland pop-up book!
In the video I talk about WILLIS WONDERLAND, an eye-popping pop-up book that replicates Allee Willis’s incredible “house of atomic kitsch.” Back in February I raved about The World According to Allee Willis, a documentary about the legendary songwriter/artist. The book recreates the house where every cool kid came to party, from Paul Reubens to Mark Mothersbaugh to Jane Wiedlin to (insert idol here).
My pics below don’t really do it justice, so go to williswonderlandpopupbook.com to learn more about the book and buy it. (100% of the proceeds go to the Willis Wonderland Foundation, which helps young artists.) You can also subscribe to Willis Wonderland’s Substack.
also mentioned in the video:
I’m listening to Jeff Hiller’s memoir and I’m reading Solvej Balle’s On the Calculation of Volume (Book 1). Poker Face has two eps left in its second season (12 total). I have tix to Broadway’s John Proctor is the Villain and hope to see Heathers. I read from Ron Padgett’s Pink Dust.

How did I miss news of the Twin Peaks cast tour? It kicks off in August; get tickets now.
Shout-out to photographer David Degner for the mesmerizing images in this story about an abandoned mall in Lanesborough, Mass. Recently I mentioned the excellent doc Jasper Mall, which is on Amazon — if you liked that, spend some time with Dan Bell’s YouTube series Dead Mall, where he posts compelling, meditative tours of “the most depressed shopping malls in the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.”
Oh, the joy of seeing Cole Escola channel Grey Gardens.
Mark Hamill talks about his role in The Life of Chuck, where he plays an alcoholic grandfather. He also went to the Museum of Mathematics for the New Yorker.
Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons star in Bugonia, a Yorgos Lanthimos movie about “two conspiracy-obsessed young men (who) kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth.”
Congrats to filmmaker Onur Tukel on the publication of his illustrated novel for adults, Run Werewolf Run. He chatted with Talkhouse about why he decided to adapt it from a screenplay; grab a signed book and/or artwork here.
After nearly 40 years at Vogue, Anna Wintour will no longer be editor-in-chief. Should I apply? Would they embrace my love of cheese hats and drawstring bras?
Former teen idol Bobby Sherman died this week.
