❄ that's not an icicle ❄
Holly, jolly, oh, my golly.
Season's hellos! I hope you were invited to all or zero of the festive parties, depending upon your interest in such things. (Personally, my holiday wish is to throw on a red-and-green wig and take a two-hour bath.)
THANKS FOR ALL THE MINICOMIC ORDERS! I'm mailing a bunch more today. You can still grab one by Venmo-ing $10 to me (@whitneymatheson). In the note, put your mailing address and who the comic is going to, so I can sign/personalize it. And if you post a pic of yourself with the comic on Insta/Twitter/etc., please tag me!
A few quick recs: I watched Andy Ostroy's ADRIENNE, the incredibly moving doc about Adrienne Shelly. See it on HBO and prepare to shed tears. ... This new Nicolas Cage movie looks oh-so-very Nic Cage. ... Here's the best obituary of the year. ... And oh, I wrote a sorta saucy essay for HiLoBrow titled "Gynecological Goodfella," and you'll just have to click if that lifts your eyebrows!

Last week I was thrilled to participate in a reading of VOICES, a new screenplay by David Skovron. Also reading were the incredible Richard Kind, Judy Gold and director/actor Jeff Ayars -- and ooh, that's some crazy-rad artwork by my studio mate/frequent collaborator Dean Haspiel on the right!
I walked in thinking I was only gonna read the stage directions and wound up reading multiple parts, including a cameo by Joan of Arc. It was a role I was born to play.
I can't tell you how much I love Ana Galvañ's new graphic novel, AFTERNOON AT MCBURGER'S. Incredible art and a mind-bending sci-fi story, all in 64 pages that demand to be read over and over. Add it to your list!
Today I'm planning to post a new batch of diary comics at patreon.com/whitneymatheson. Will I survive these next few weeks? HEAD OVER THERE TO FIND OUT! Thanks so much to everyone who has supported this and other creative projects this year! I can't wait to do more in 2022.
Well, I gotta go bake some invisible cookies. Find me at whitmath@gmail.com or in your hall closet, rifling through the coat pockets.
