... because you're the only 10 I see. 🍊
Hands off!
Oh lordy, is it Friday again? How did that happen? I'm hardly ready for the weekend and have been so buried in work that I've barely had a moment to watch the "Lady Bump" video 35 times.
I also gulped down the first three eps of Y: THE LAST MAN (Hulu), read every Michael Stipe interview promoting his portrait book and tried to imitate Angela Trimbur's stunning dance moves, but I always wind up looking like a spasmodic meerkat.
NOT HERE YET: I'm psyched to see so many new docs, including Todd Haynes' THE VELVET UNDERGROUND, the small-town paper doc STORM LAKE and the film about singer Karen Dalton; I'm planning to see new exhibitions of work by Warhol, Jasper Johns, and Julian Schnabel in NYC; I'm thrilled by the lineup for my fave music fest, Big Ears; I wanna read the new oral biography of Anthony Bourdain; and my Spotify to-do list includes streaming Patti Smith's LIVE AT ELECTRIC LADY, the Pixies' LIVE FROM THE WARFIELD and St. Etienne's I'VE BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU.
Did I spontaneously buy a ticket to Patti Smith at the Ryman in Nashville? You bet your sweet cotton britches. She has several shows lined up, if you want to organize your life around her world tour schedule.
Tickets are SOLD OUT for the Sept. 23 performance of my one-act play, DENNY BARRACUDA! I'd love to prolong this blissful chapter of my life, so holler if you'd like us to perform it in your living room or whatnot.

I'm preparing to post another batch of diary comics at patreon.com/whitneymatheson. Thanks for your Patreon support, which allows me to make this newsletter free for everyone and encourages my creative work.
NOW AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE: My short kids' book WE MAKE COMICS is now in print! Buy/order a copy of ANIMAL RESCUE FRIENDS: VOL. 1 from your favorite bookseller, and you'll find WE MAKE COMICS in the back. It's also available digitally on Epic.
It was just announced in a press release, so it must be true: I'm heading to Baltimore Comic Con next month! Comics creators and pros can vote for PANDEMIX as Best Anthology through Sept. 22 at RingoAwards.com. I co-edited this wonderful book, which is available digitally for $5 at heroinitiative.org. (All proceeds go to the Hero Initiative.)
OK, I gotta get back to getting into high-waisted jeans now. Say hi at whitmath@gmail.com. Put "DON" as the subject, and the ghost of Don Rickles will make fun of your hairstyle.
