Who's Denny Barracuda?
Hey, hey! Come see my play!
Between work stuff, accumulating new freckles and getting ready for my new play, it's been a busy week! Details below ...
I'm psyched to announce that a one-act play I wrote, DENNY BARRACUDA, will be performed Sept. 8 and 23 at The Brick theater in Brooklyn.
I wrote DENNY at the peak of the pandemic and, fittingly, it follows an artist who has been quarantined in his apartment for a year. When he calls upon the services of a woman named Denny Barracuda, he doesn't know what he's in for.
I'm thrilled to be working with director Shannon Goldman, actors Madeleine Morrell and Lawrence Trailer and my Nightwork Studio partner, Dean Haspiel. The short performance is part of The Brick's ?!: New Works festival, and tickets for the two shows are on sale at tinyurl.com/dbarracuda. See ya there, maybe?
In a flash: I attended a screening of THE LOVE WITCH this week, the stunning 2016 sexy-retro horror-comedy starring Samantha Robinson. I gotta get my hands on some high-quality wigs. ... I worshipped Polka-Dot Man in THE SUICIDE SQUAD and amped up my daily dose of Margot Robbie by (finally) watching the brilliant I, TONYA the next night. ... THE WHITE LOTUS ended somewhat the way I expected, and I'm glad it'll return for Season 2 with a new cast. Vulture talked to creator Mike White ... My daughter and I watched IN THE HEIGHTS, which made her burst into tears twice because she's so young that plot twists really throw her for a loop!
My kid just read a cool graphic novel called A SHOT IN THE ARM!. Written and illustrated by Don Brown, the book discusses the history of vaccines and infectious diseases in a way that's far more accessible and entertaining than I'm making it sound. Grab a copy, and get ready to hear some facts about smallpox at breakfast ...
