A 1995 playlist JUST FOR YOU... 📻
Hey there!
Are you taking care of yourself? Are you about three Zooms from losing your dang mind? I get it. And it took me awhile to put this together because the world is so distracting right now, but below are a few recs, etc.
By the way, THANK YOU to everyone who said nice things about the short story . This week I'll post another one on Patreon. As always, I welcome your hellos at whitmath@gmail.com.
with infinite x's and o's,

My recommendations: The very funny Cole Escola made an hourlong sketch comedy special in his apartment called HELP! I'M STUCK!. I dream of owning so many wigs • Here's a comic from Lauren Weinstein about "mothering-in-place during the coronavirus" • Some friends turned me on to Sonic Youth's tongue-in-cheek "Ciccone Youth" album released in 1988. (And wait, Madonna was in a couple no-wave bands?) • Jon Stewart talks about our current times and the new film he wrote and directed, IRRESISTIBLE • The other night I watched John Cassavetes' HUSBANDS, which is on Amazon Prime and Criterion. Just bathe in the Peter Falk of it all • In the latest ep of the HEAVYWEIGHT podcast, Jonathan Goldstein helps listeners track down their favorite teachers • P.S. I got my mask from Joah Love, which also makes 'em in kids' sizes.
I made you a playlist of songs from 1995.
Need an escape? Well, climb on in to this Spotify playlist I created of college/alternative stuff from 1995. It was a big year for music: Radiohead! Smashing Pumpkins! Garbage! I hope it brings back some weird and happy memories.
Your recommendations: Many of you are psyched about this new BILL & TED trailer •  Our friend Brian Heater just posted the 400th episode (!) of his RIYL podcast. The guest is Colin Newman of the band Wire • Chris passed along this article where Parker Posey reflects on the film PARTY GIRL, now on Amazon Prime • Herman tells us about 15-year-old Juniper Shelley, who just released an incredible album featuring guest appearances by Marshall Crenshaw, Ira Kaplan and others. (I'm partial to BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! BOYS!) • And Mike is watching LENOX HILL on Netflix. "I chuckle one moment, and I'm crying the next," he says.
Thanks for reading, don't lose hope, make cool stuff and keep fighting the good fight. (Shout-out to our friend Dean Haspiel, who recently posted this image of his character The Red Hook.)
'Til next time!
